| The festival puts young talent in the spotlight |
Art lovers will have the chance to spend Valentine’s Day at a special event celebrating young Polish artists on February 14. Works of photography, pottery, jewelry, painting and batik from talented teens and 20-somethings will be on show and on sale for one day only in the main ballroom at the Sheraton Hotel in Warsaw. Coordinated by art enthusiast Jody Ballard, this event aims to bring fresh, innovative pieces into the public eye. Having put together the collection from a sizable roster of young professional artists as well as recent graduates of Warsaw University’s Academy of Fine Arts and the city’s international secondary schools, Ballard has created a cross-section of the future of Polish art.
This fresh, unfettered and informal display of tomorrow’s art scene is also a chance to take home a piece of work that catches the eye – or perhaps the heart – and might be worth much more someday. Festival prices will come in at just 50-70 percent of gallery prices.
