Polish President Lech Kaczyński has said that Poland should become a member of the G-20 group of the world's major economies, since the country's GDP now ranks 18th in the world.

Is this enough to allow Poland to join the elite group?

Experts have no illusions about this: the answer is no. It is possible that this would not even be enough for the country to be invited to attend a G-20 summit as a guest.

The country still has a long way to go to become a regional power. However, the experts add that being a G-20 member is mainly an issue of prestige, and the key decisions are usually made elsewhere.
