Poland home to fewest telecommuters in Europe
Just two percent of Poles work from home, but changes are afoot
stock.xchng |
Very few Poles work from home, reports Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
But that's about to change, as the government is about to launch a media campaign aiming to educate companies about the benefits of telecommuting. The campaign comes ahead of EU funding coming into the country specifically for the purpose of training 700 firms to create telecommuting positions for some of its workers.
Analysts welcome the idea, but worry 700 firms is just a drop in the bucket if Poland is to catch up to the rest of Europe. In Scandinavia and the UK, one in 10 companies offers their employees the option to telecommute. In Poland, that option so far only exists for some two percent of workers.
