The Sejm's Health Committee on Thursday approved amendments to the law on health protection from the consequences of tobacco products.

A ban on smoking in public places will be extended. If the bill goes through, smoking will be banned in restaurants and pubs. Those venues will not even be allowed to set up separate smoking areas, however dorms, psychiatric hospitals, hospices and nursing homes will have that right to have special smoking rooms.

The amended law will also apply to educational and health establishments, beaches, public transportation, taxis, but not private cars, although they were originally included in the bill.

Smoking of e-cigarettes will be allowed. The bill also envisages banning the promotion and advertising of tobacco products.
