Last year, dealers of Škoda sold 37,900 new cars in Poland and, despite the crisis, the firm managed to boost sales by over 15 percent.

"We want Škoda to reach a 10.5 percent share in the market and become a leading brand of the automotive market in Poland," said Łukasz Zadworny, a Škoda Auto Polska management board member.

With his forecast for 2010 of total sales reaching 320,000 new cars, the dealers of Škoda would sell 33,600 cars this year. No wonder this marks a drop in relation to 2009 as last year Škoda was also benefiting from re-exporting cars to other EU markets.

"Due to suspending subsidies for the scrapping of old cars and the buying of new ones, we anticipate a drop in re-export," said Łukasz Zadworny.

The main leader in Škoda's sales was the Octavia model, which sold 18,900 units last year.
