PGNiG reconsidering German gas line
Polish gas giant PGNiG may delay or completely drop a plan to build a connecting gas pipe from Szczecin to Bernau, northeast of Berlin, according to Rzeczpospolita's unofficial sources.
The firm had planned to connect the Polish gas system to the German one, helping reduce Poland's dependence on gas deliveries from Russia.
It is now re-thinking this move, as Russia's Gazprom has bought a five percent stake in the German VNGVerbundnetz Gas, which was to be a partner with PGNiG in the construction of the pipes. (JJ)
