Prime Minister Donald Tusk yesterday met with several experts to discuss the issue of amending the Constitution. Gazeta Wyborcza reports that the experts who were invited to the debate where those who officially agree to his planned changes.
The amendments under consideration are those that PM Tusk proposed during the celebration of his government's two years in office, when he said he wants to limit the power of the President and widen those of the Prime Minister.
Other changes include reducing the number of Sejm deputies and Senators, as well selecting the President by Parliament and not through a general election.
The PM wants the new regulations to be in force before the next Presidential elections, but even a number of Civic Platform (PO) deputies doubt whether their introduction will be possible at all.
