News emerged late on Thursday confirming earlier reports that deals had been closed regarding the sale of assets at the Gdynia Shipyard, which was close to bankruptcy. Among the two buyers of the main assets of the shipyard is state-owned Nauta shipyard.

The nature of the bidding is interesting, as Nauta is a repair shipyard owned by the State Treasury, which will be taken over by the state's Industrial Development Agency (ARP) next week. Nauta paid zł.57 million for part of the assets encompassing the ship-equipment area, prefabrication of spatial constructions and equipment.

"We also took part in the tender for the dry dock, but taking into account the determination of the competitor, we gave up. We previously considered different scenarios and it will be cheaper to buy a floating dock," said the president of Nauta.

The company will not construct ships, but will focus on repairing and overhauling vessels in Gdynia.

The second buyer of assets, including the dry dock, is Energomontaż-Północ, which paid zł.33 million and plans to use the property to construct high-volume steel constructions for the chemical and energy sectors.
