Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has ordered his cabinet to cut costs on the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s Eve holidays. This means that this year the government will not spend any money on printing promotional materials, such as calendars, cards, gifts and invitations.

The reason for the cuts, according to a statement on the government’s website, is to avoid unreasonable spending.

Prime Minister Borisov’s order includes all chairpersons of commissions and agencies within the framework of the Cabinet administration, as well as the government’s Lozenetz hospital in Sofia. The prime minister urged the rest of his Cabinet ministers and heads of state agencies which are dependent on budget funding also to restrain themselves from unreasonable spending.
