Russian daily Nezavisimaya Gazeta reported that the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will accept the invitation of PM Donald Tusk and will visit Poland for the 70th anniversary of the slaughter of Polish military officials by the NKVD in Katyń.
"I know from a reliable source in our Foreign Ministry that such a topic was discussed and that Putin could arrive to Poland in the first half of next year. A logical date here would be April, when the anniversary of Katyń takes place," said Inessa Jażborowska from the Polish-Russian commission for difficult issues.
According to domestic papers, nothing has yet been made certain. Polish authorities would like for Russian top officials to participate in the anniversary, as this would be an historic first.
