Polish SMEs fail to appear on the internet, warns Google

As many as half of Polish companies have no website and according to Mohammad Gawdat, head of Google's emerging markets department, 40 percent of consumers look for information on the internet.

He went on to say that either Polish companies begin to set up websites or otherwise they will greatly lose out. According to the expert, Polish consumers are as sophisticated as their Western counterparts in terms of ability and frequency of using the internet, but SMEs are doing poorer.

"Other countries of the region, for example the Czech Republic, are doing much better in this area than Poland – in which the web is mostly dominated by large companies," said Mr Gawdat. In his opinion, Polish SMEs must make a presence on-line.
