Following the positive result of the Lisbon Treaty referendum, it was reported that Polish President Lech Kaczyński was expected to ratify the European agreement.

However, the president's twin brother, Law and Justice (PiS) leader Jarosław Kaczyński said that people should not believe such rumors and the president would not be signing the Treaty.

"According to what I know, and I have knowledge of this, this won't happen on Sunday,” Jarosław Kaczyński said. “On Sunday evening the president will be in the Vatican [State] and I don't think he will be signing the Lisbon Treaty there. Please do not believe rumors that circulate about this,” he added.

Earlier in the day, the head of the presidential National Security Bureau, Aleksander Szczygło, told the press that the president would ratify the agreement on Sunday evening after returning from the Vatican.

Poland, along with the Czech Republic are the only two nations yet to ratify the treaty.
