Faltering support for proposed drug law changes

A month ago Justice Minister Andrzej Czuma announced plans to introduce a new bill to battle drug addiction. Meanwhile, media speculation infers that the government, lead by Donald Tusk, might want to withdraw support for the bill.

Today the committee of the cabinet will meet to discuss the details of the bill and whether it will be implemented. Gazeta Wyborcza reports that Prime Minister Tusk is considering withdrawing proposed changes, as one of the main issues was the plan to allow the possession of a small amount of drugs for personal use, a plan which could give the new bill a tag of legalization.

In the long run this could be used politically against the PM by the opposition.
