Ukraine may lose out in the race for the rights to organize the final match of the Euro 2012 soccer tournament, reports Ukrainian daily Kommersant-Ukraine, adding that the game might instead be played in the Polish capital.

The daily comes to this conclusion on the basis of a decision taken by UEFA, the administrative body for European soccer, which decided that the International Broadcasting Center's (IBC) broadcasting base during the tournament will be located in Warsaw. Initially, UEFA had agreed to place the center in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.

According to UEFA the decision to move the IBC base to Warsaw was taken since the Polish city – which is closer to Western Europe than Kiev – would involve less traveling and more regular flights to other countries.

According to media insiders, the IBC base is usually placed in the city where the final game is played.
