Pharma, a subsidiary of Roche Polska opened an IT center in Poznań on Tuesday that will employ over 100 experts by the end of 2010. It will complement current operations at Roche's Warsaw branch by developing and maintaining IT systems for clinical research purposes, and developing modern internet portals and programs supporting internal processes.
According to Puls Biznesu, the government plans to support the venture with funding to the tune of zł.0.5 million. "In making the choice of a relevant location in Poland we looked for a good level of cooperation with city authorities, the availability of skilled IT labor, infrastructure and the distance from Warsaw," said Monika Białoń, director of Roche's IT centers in Poland. Eventually, the IT organization developed by the centers in Warsaw, Poznań and Istanbul will handle Roche branches located in over 100 countries, providing support to at least 75,000 users.
"This is an enormous success for Poznań," said Ryszard Grobelny, the mayor of Poznań.
