Euro election set to be marked by record low turnout?

According to the latest poll of Rzeczpospolita, only 20% will bother to turn out and vote in the election to the European Parliament on Sunday. The low turnout might also reflect earlier declarations that up to 60% of the nation might participate in the election. "The majority of Poles do not know what the European Parliament does.

The election campaign was to be focused on issues important for Europe, but it became a regular party row, while in the Euro elections, which will not change the government, party rows encourages voters to stay at home," said sociologist Jacek Kucharczyk. According to the forecast only the PO, PiS, SLD and PSL will win seats in the European Parliament.

Every second voter is planning to vote for the PO, while every fourth will support PiS and every seventh SLD-UP, while the PSL might gain 6%. If these results turn out to be true, then it would mean that the PO managed to attract half of the nation to its plans, but the biggest gainer would be the SLD and the biggest loser PiS.
