Patriot missiles in Poland by year's end - Defense Minister
A US Patriot missile unit and 100 American support troops will be deployed on Polish soil by the end of the year, Deputy Defense Minister Bronisław Komorowski told the Financial Times in a Thursday interview.
The bilateral security-pact program will proceed independently of US President Barack Obama's approval of the interceptor missile shield scheme in Eastern Europe.
“This will be the first time US soldiers are stationed on Polish soil, other than those who come under NATO control, on exercises for example ... This will be symbolic for Poland,” said Komorowski. (RG)
