Former interior minister Janusz Kaczmarek has submitted a request to the the Sejm Regulations Committee to lift the immunity of the head of Law and Justice (PiS) Jarosław Kaczyński. This request came after Kaczmarek accused Kaczyński of calling him a "sleeping agent" who "was blocking investigations."
Civic Platform (PO) politicians however are not planning to vote on this request before the election to the European Parliament. "We want to avoid accusations of taking advantage of this case for political ends during the campaign," said the head of the commission, Jerzy Budnik of the PO. Unofficially, PO politicians are sure that most Parliamentary Clubs will vote in favor of the request.
Moreover, the Sejm Speaker informed Kaczyński that he has the right to withdraw the deputy immunity by himself.
