Confectionery producer Mars, previously known as Masterfoods, owner of various brands such as Mars, Snickers, Chappi and Whiskas, who recently took over Wrigley for US$23 billion in cash, declared that it is confident it knows how to overcome the effects of the global financial crisis

"In the last few years Mars Polska has been generating two digit growth in sales and is expecting the same next year. We expect our net sales, on the Polish market alone, to amount to zł.800 million this year. If we add export sales to this figure, as well as the sales of Wrigley Polska and Royal Canin Polska, then annual turnover of the Polish division of Mars will be close to zł.2.6 billion," declared Mars Polska director general Jarosław Świgulski. Company representatives, however, did not reveal net profits.

Świgulski went on to add that the economic slowdown might positively influence the sales as the corporation has products in all price ranges. Moreover, "People might be limiting larger purchases but will not deny themselves small pleasures," added the CEO.
