TP to offer television, internet, and phone package
Telekomunikacja Polska is counting on a new "triple play" offer of television, internet and telephone to compete with cable operators
The two new services which will revolutionize TP's offer include, from October, satellite television, and CDMA, radio access to the internet, to be launched on December 1. The triple offer will be accessible by almost every Polish household and may become serious competition for all internet, telephone and cable providers.
However, analysts are skeptical. "The market for pay television is divided, platforma n and Cyfrowy Polsat are quite aggressive so TP will find it hard to break into the market," said Michał Marczak of DI BRE Bank.
TP currently has 54,000 customers for its internet television service IPTV. However, rumors of market consolidation are appearing as "The market speculates that TP will buy Cyfra Plus in Poland," said Andrzej
Knigawka of ING Securities.
