Asseco Poland is preparing to surprise investors - with a large, costly, but very prospective acquisition of Romanian IT company Siveco, which is one of the favorites in large IT tenders in Romania

According to a Puls Biznesu source, Siveco is preparing to participate in a zł.500 million tender for selling computers to schools, while another tender might be worth as much as zł.1 billion "We are indeed interested in this firm. Preliminary talks on this issue are under way. Siveco is a good company so a potential transaction would strengthen our standing in that region, but Asseco Southern Europe is already a strong firm, ready to enter the bourse," said Adam Góral, president of Asseco Poland.

The acquisition would be rather an expensive move for Asseco, but "It is however, worth paying for a position in countries which have just entered the European Union, and which must invest in new technologies," said one market analyst.
