CB¦, the police's organized-crime unit, yesterday detained Marek Cz., nicknamed "Rympałek", one of the most notorious gangsters who masterminded the so-called "robbery of the century" in Warsaw in 1995.

The man was first arrested in 1996 and was eventually sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for heading  an organized criminal gang. He left prison in April 2006 after serving  his sentence, and has since been trying to rebuild his criminal structure and inciting a new "war of the gangs". The police had been after him for some time but did not know his whereabouts until they were tipped off on Wednesday that he would be at a fast food restaurant in Warsaw's Wilanów district. "Rympalek" was completely surprised when he was handcuffed by an anti-terrorist squad. (Dziennik, p. 8) R.M.
