Football club Ruch Chorzów plans to enter NewConnect, the alternative floor of the WSE, by the end of Q1. "We were aiming at becoming the first sports company on the bourse, while the debut will be a great event preceding the great Silesian derby game [with Górnik Zabrze on March 2]. It seems that we might do it," said Katarzyna Sobstyl, president of Ruch Chorzów football club.

She added that the proceeds from the floatation will be used to promote the club's brand and thereby boost revenues, following the example set by teams such as Real Madrid. "In a few years we would like to transform Ruch from a football club into an entertainment and media company," said Sobstyl. The club will expand its network of stores with football souvenirs, develop its online store and expand the stadium from 20,000 seats to 40,000. Ruch hopes to raise zł.5 million from the floor and will make another share issue in two years after having potentially moved to the main floor.
