"The Economist" thinks Poland has very good prospects

12th May 2006

The British weekly "The Economist" will publish a special report on Poland this week.

According to the author, Edward Lucas, despite the political tension, the prospects are very good. Lucas writes that a sharp contrast is to be observed between the modern and successful private sector and the public sector and the state administration, which are in need of reforms. The same concerns the education or the courts. The best operating areas include services, transport and the IT sector. Lucas stresses the fact that the EU accession improved the way in which Polish companies operate. Professor Witold Orlowski, chief economist from PricewaterhouseCoopers, approves of the manner in which Poland has been presented in the report. "It is a very honest image," he says. "It shows a country which can become a great place to invest in". (Puls Biznesu, p. 15) A.M.
