MEDIATEL Mediatel provides integrated telecommunication services, internet connections, voice telecommunication connections (under the Media Tel brand) and internet maintenance services (under the Mediaweb brand), including international data-transmission services. Recently the company signed an agreement with Polkomtel by which Mediatel will provide telecommunication services using Polkomtel's infrastructure.

 

NOVITA Zielona Góra-based Novita produces floor coverings and technical unwoven fabrics. It is one of the three largest domestic rug and textile floor covering makers. It is Poland's only producer of needled floor coverings. It sells coverings mostly to the corporate construction sector. The company's 2004-2009 growth plan envisages production investment without developing infrastructure, while simultaneously narrowing the scope of manufacturing, guaranteeing a rapid rise in efficiency and consolidation of its status in selected sections of the market.

 

MOSTALZAB Mostostal Zabrze's basic activities include the production and assembly of metal constructions, as well as the manufacture of industrial devices and installations. The company's main customers come from motor, light, metallurgical and power industries but also public utilities. The company's domestic activities focus on Upper Silesia. Major export markets include the Czech Republic, Germany and Libya.

 

GRAAL Wejherowo-based Graal Group's main activity is the sale and processing of fish products. Their basic product is tinned fish, which is produced and sold under the brands MEG, Graal and Black Rose, as well as under generic brands. The company also offers frozen fish and other sea food, tinned meat and poultry pies.

 

MUZA Muza.pl operates in the publishing and printing markets and is one of Poland's largest publishing houses. The company's sales mostly target the domestic market. The firm sells mostly guides, encyclopedias  and literature. Muza.pl signed a contract with EMPiK in 1999 and established Polish book distribution firm Polska Dystrybucja Książki in which Muza holds a 51-percent stake. The firm develops books distribution chains.

 

Bottom 5 losers

 

CAPITAL Capital Partners' main activities include project financing by taking over significant shareholdings and consultancy in acquiring capital. The company aims to win financing for its customers through the preparation and sale of financial instruments or through an investor.

 

INDYKPOL Indykpol specializes in the production, processing and preservation of poultry meat - mainly turkey - and poultry breeding. Indykpol is Poland's largest poultry producer. It meets 25 percent of domestic demand. The firm holds a 100-percent stake in animal feed mill Wytwórnie Pasz in Dobre Miasto and is a strategic investor in poultry producer Lubdrob with its 45.3-percent stake. Indykpol's main shareholder is Rolmex. A recent partnership between Indykpol and Polish Humanitarian Action, in the scope of fighting children's malnutrition, plans to carry out a campaign consisting of collecting money for funding meals in schools.

 

EKODROB has been operating on the market for over 50 years and belongs to capital group Animex, whose strategic investor is the concern Smithfield Foods Inc. It specializes in the production of turkey and goose meat. The products of the plant are sold on the Polish market through a network of super- and hypermarkets, discount shops and large grocery wholesalers, owing to whom the products from Iława can be found in different regions of Poland. Export is realized in co-operation with business partners from the European Union as well as Russia and China.

 

BAUMA Bauma generates its revenue mostly from the sale of formworks and scaffolds for ground construction works. In May 2000 the company launched production of wooden wall panels named Primo. The firm operates mainly in central Poland, with local branches also in Szczecin and Zielona Gora. Bauma-Kruszywa, a member of the Bauma group, extracts aggregates, gravel and other minerals and resources. The main stockholder is Ulma CyE S. Coop.

 

TRAVELPL Wrocław-based Travel Planet sells tourist services through the internet and call centers. The company's offer includes airline tickets, tours and accommodation. The sales growth rate of the company came to 234 percent in 2005 compared to 2004. The company recorded a turnover of some zł.4.1 million in January 2006.
