A general strike which was due to take place at the Budryk coal mine was averted last Monday thanks to a Katowice district court's decision.

The proposed strike, at the mine on the outskirts of Gliwice, would have been the first for the new government and would have cost the state-owned coal mine over zł.2 million. The court's decision not to allow the strike is a legal precedent for Poland.
