Link4 gives internet users chance to cover their car using the world wide web

7th April 2005

Insurer Link4, which was the first to offer direct insurance services on the domestic market, yesterday introduced its web-based sales system for car insurance.

"We estimate that through this distribution channel we should be selling between 2-3% of our policies annu-ally. Last year we sold 120,000 policies in total," announced Link4 president, Zofia Dzik. The company estimates that 200,000 drivers will purchase their policies online. Despite its innovative market presence, Link4 is not the pioneer on the domestic online car insurance market. Just a week earlier a similar move was made by Compensa, however, in this case the insurer only targeted its offer at customers of the online mBank. "The internet is a rather narrow business. For the time being we are concentrating on our traditional sales system: cooperation with agents, agencies and car dealers," said Allianz spokesperson, Marek Baran. Another sector competitor, Generali, said it is not planning to follow in the footsteps of Link4 or Compensa. Meanwhile market leader PZU said it will contin-ue to develop its online sales channel.
