Vin & Spirit faces a tough battle to buy Polmos Białystok
Vin & Spirit, the Scandinavian investor in Polmos Zielona Góra and owner of the Absolut vodka brand, is looking forward to further expand on the Polish market, with the aim of taking over Polmos Białystok and the Absolwent and Żubrówka brands.
However, the competition to acquire the largest domestic spirits producer will be tough as already 20 potential investors have declared their interest in the bid. The State Treasury has received the issue prospectus, according to which 20-30% of the shares will be offered to the public, while a majority stake will be sold in the second half of the year to a sector investor. The company's value is estimated by the Ministry at zł.800 million. What the State Treasury, as well as potential investors, fear the most is the power of the employees who can slow down the privatization process and demand expensive social benefits.
