Poland's first lady, Jolanta Kwaśniewska, yesterday held a press conference to reveal all connections between her charity organization "Porozumienie bez barier" and oil giant PKN Orlen which is currently being investigated by a special Sejm Commission. On Tuesday, Polish Families League (LPR) leader Roman Giertych submitted a motion which would allow the commission to review financial statements of the charity on grounds of suspicion that a significant sum was paid by Orlen to the charity. Kwaśniewska revealed that the oil company did donate zł.350,000 on her written request. She also emphasized that Orlen was one of several large companies which helped construct a children's clinic in Gdańsk. "It is surprising that for the past nine years I have had to keep on proving that I am not a camel," said Kwaśniewska during the conference. (Rzeczpospolita, p. A5) A.K.
