An Islamic group Al-Tawhid, which calls itself the Al-Quaida of Europe, has called on the Polish and Bulgarian governments to withdraw their armies from Iraq. If they fail to do this, the group threatens to begin attacks in these countries. In a letter publicized on the Internet, the terrorist group claims that these countries will "pay the price" for their presence in Iraq. According to Interior Minister Ryszard Kalisz the threat of terrorist attacks in Poland has not increased due to these announcements. Despite that, the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and the Police announced that no signals of potential attacks are being ignored. Defense Minister Jerzy Szmajdziński said that no changes will be made to the military strategy under the pressure of blackmail. (Rzeczpospolita, p. A1) A.K.
